Online help for Tameside residents after Covid-19 pandemic

Tameside Council has organised free access to an online course for the borough's residents concerned about mental health matters following the pandemic.

While the physical symptoms of Covid-19 are easy to spot, less is clear about the toll the long pandemic has taken on mental health.

This especially applies to children who have had to spend so much time out of school and away from their friends.

To help parents and carers gain a better understanding of the situation, a new online course named ‘Understanding your Child’s Mental Health and Well-Being’ is now available. Thanks to Tameside Council, the borough’s residents can access it for free.

It’s part of the Solihull Approach which the NHS has designed to increase emotional health and well-being through both practitioners and parents.

All you need to do to take part is visit www.inourplace.co.uk and enter the access code: SUNFLOWER.

Once logged in you’ll find lots of other courses for parents, carers and grandparents about children and young people.

Cllr Eleanor Wills, Tameside Council’s executive member for population health, said: “Covid has been a long slog and children have been affected more than anyone. This excellent course will be a great help to parents and carers as we hopefully continue our safe and gradual emergence from the pandemic.

“I hope people will share the news with family members and friends so that they can take advantage of this fantastic opportunity provided by the council.”
