Olympic medalist set to open store

Crownpoint Shopping Park.

A new Aldi store will be opening its doors in Denton next month.

The supermarket chain has announced that its latest store in the borough, located at Crownpoint Shopping Park, will officially launch on October 7.

It forms part of an expansion drive across Greater Manchester which saw £2.5 million invested in the new Denton store and an upgrade to Middleton’s existing Aldi.

The new site will become the fourth Aldi store in Tameside, adding to existing supermarkets on Wellington Road in Ashton, Great Norbury Street in Hyde and Leech Street in Stalybridge.

The new store will employ 30 staff. To celebrate the launch, Team GB silver medallist Gemma Gibbons will attend to cut the ribbon on opening morning on October 7.

Mr Nield said: “Having Olympic hero Gemma Gibbons join us will make it a morning to remember.”

Olympian Gemma Gibbons added: “It will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of Team GB.”
