Nostalgia: Golf club ladies' golden celebration

In 1985, a stalwart of Denton Golf Club ladies section received a special tribute to celebrate 50 years of service.

Norah Thorley, of Ashwood Avenue, Denton, was presented with an inscribed cut-glass goblet.

Norah’s father-in-law was a founder member and her husband was a keen player.

Meanwhile, the club’s out of town location had made it a popular spot for helicopter pilots seeking a convenient place to land. The latest visit was by an Aero-Speciale Squirrel helicopter, owned by the Colt Mitsubishi car company, which landed on the car park and stayed the morning, while representatives attended the opening of the Manchester Car Show.
