Mossley Food Bank makes appeal in time for Easter

Mossley Food Bank wants to make this Easter eggs-tra special for families struggling through the pandemic.

The busy organisation, based at Mossley Youthbase at The Rowans, is appealing for Easter eggs to put smiles on children’s faces.

The food bank supports families and individuals in need of food and essentials.

Staff say the Easter eggs don’t have to be anything fancy or expensive, just a small egg to make sure every child receives one.

The food bank is also appealing for other food stuffs.

It is running low on jam, crackers, cordial juice, puddings, instant mash, tinned meats, and other tinned stuff including pies, tinned stews, curry, meatballs, hotdogs, chilli and tuna.

It is also appealing for instant noodles, beans and sausages, microwave rice, UHT milk, jars of cooking sauces and potted meat spreads.

The food bank is also grateful for essentials, including: shampoo, conditioner, sanitary towels, shower gel, soaps, hand wash, nappies sizes 4/5/6 and toothpaste.

A spokesperson from the food bank said: “It’s super busy with lots of families even more in need during this time of pressure in the world.

“We really appreciate all of you who volunteer to deliver the food, pick up donated items and sort the stock in the food bank.

“We couldn’t do it without your support and to all who donate the items to make people smile.”

You can drop food off at Mossley Coop, Mossley Post Office, Brew on the Brow coffee shop during their opening hours, St John’s Church and vicarage in Roughtown; St George’s Church on Stamford Street and at the food bank itself on Thursdays between 9am-noon. The food bank can also pick up if you have no transport.

Visit the food bank’s Facebook page for more details and to message them.
