More pictures bringing Tameside's past alive

Historic pictures that have not seen the light of day for decades are being given a new lease of life and slowly revealing the region's rich social heritage, thanks to the SMILE project - a National Lottery funded project to digitise the Reporter archive.

Here are some of the latest pictures of the past that have been rediscovered...

TIME FOR TEA: Sit back with a cuppa and explore the Reporter’s past...

This gentleman had prosthetic arms adapted to enable him to use a typewriter.

Some very long and baggy shorts made up the kit for this football team playing c. 1949.

SNOW GOOD: Children in the snow at Nuthurst Park, Moston, left, in February 1973.

SMILE! Tameside
