Marking Baby Loss Awareness Week

Maternity staff from Tameside Hospital and bereaved parents have come together to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week this week.

Staff from Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust's Maternity Department have marked this year's Baby Loss Awareness Week, by creating a wave of light with visitors and bereaved parents.

The event was held outside the antenatal clinic at Tameside Hospital on Tuesday, to mark the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week.

Anyone affected by baby loss, patients, staff and visitors can get involved by adding a ribbon to the light display.

Taking place every year between 9 and 15 October, Baby Loss Awareness Week is an opportunity for bereaved parents, and their families and friends, to unite with others across the world to commemorate their baby’s live. 

It also raises awareness about pregnancy and baby loss in the UK, and drives improvements in the care and support of those affected.

As well as creating a wave of light, the Trust has raised a flag for Baby Loss Awareness Week at the hospital and has been selling homemade badges on Ward 27 for a donation of 50p.

Any money raised from the selling of the badges will be donated to local baby loss community support group, Olive Branch.
