Man dies after being hit by vehicle on M67 motorway

A man has died after being hit by a vehicle whilst walking along the M67 motorway in Tameside.

Police were called to junction three at about 8pm on Sunday evening (2 January) to reports of a male walking on the westbound carriageway.

Paramedics from North West Ambulance Service attended but, sadly, a 34-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A male driver stopped to help police but no arrests have been made.

Enquiries are ongoing and are being led by Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Incident Unit.

No more details have been released at this stage.

The M67 was closed eastbound between junction three near Hyde and junction four at Mottram for several hours, before reopening in the early hours of Monday morning (3 January).
