Man charged with GBH after pub fight

A man from Stalybridge has been charged with a serious assault after a fight in a pub.

Rico Whitefield, 19, of Brushes Road in Stalybridge was arrested on Wednesday 30 September at a house in Rochdale.

It comes after a fight that began in a pub in Oldham town centre that later spilled out on the street back in July.

He knocked his victim to the floor, before kicking and stamping on his head. Luckily the victim escaped with no lasting physical injuries.

Rico Whitefield was arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, affray and possession of cannabis.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Stockport Magistrates Court today (Thursday 1 October) where he pleaded not guilty to the charges of assault and affray. He was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear at Minshull Street Crown Court at a later date.
