Man charged after threatening to blow up police station

A man has been charged and remanded in to custody after threatening to blow up Ashton Police Station.

An officer at Ashton Police Station received a threat via a phone call last Tuesday from an individual stating he was on his way to blow up the building.

An immediate search of the local area was then conducted, resulting in the man being located and arrested at an address in Ashton.

Officers from GMP Tameside’s North Neighbourhood Policing Team, interviewed him in relation to this offence and then sought a charging decision from the Crown Prosecution Service for this and two further threats to bomb the police station in January and February this year.

Luke Nuttall, 29, of Rupert Street, Reddish, was subsequently charged with three cases of sending communication conveying a threatening message, and communicating false information.

He was remanded in custody and appeared at Tameside Magistrates’ Court last Thursday.

He pleaded guilty to all charges and was remanded in to custody to re-appear on July 7.
