Man charged after gunshots fired at Gorton Cemetery

A 23-year-old man has been charged after gunshots were heard being fired in Gorton on Thursday evening (April 23).

Mohammed Haseeb Umar, of Broadlea Road in Burnage, has been charged with possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He has been remanded in custody to appear before Manchester & Salford Magistrates’ Court on Monday (April 27).

Shortly before 7pm on Thursday, police were called to reports of gunshot sounds, following several gatherings in relation to a funeral service that had taken place at Gorton Cemetery earlier that afternoon.

Friends and family gathered to pay their final respects to Clive Pinnock, dubbed Mr Ibiza, who was killed after the motorbike he was riding in Gorton was involved in a collision with a BMW two weeks ago.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information and would urge anyone with any information, images or footage that could assist their investigation to visit https://mipp.police.uk where it can be uploaded.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact police on 0161 856 1146 or 101, quoting incident number 2455 of 23/04/20. Reports can also be made anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
