Local causes in Stalybridge and Hyde invited to funding workshop

Local charities, volunteer organisations and community groups in Stalybridge and Hyde are being invited to a free virtual funding workshop with the People's Postcode Lottery.

The session will take place over Zoom on Friday 3 December at 10am.

It will give good causes advice on how they can apply for funds to make a difference in their community.

More than £10.6 million, raised thanks to People’s Postcode Lottery players, funded thousands of community groups and good causes in postcodes across Britain last year. Thanks to charity lottery regulation changes, and increasing support from players, over 3,500 grassroots organisations will receive a share of an almost £17 million funding pot in 2021.

Over £37,000 has already made a difference to many small, local good causes in Stalybridge and Hyde.

MP Jonathan Reynolds, who will be taking part in the virtual workshop, said: "Communities are the heart of our nation and they wouldn’t be the same without local charities and the work they do to support people and help places thrive.

"Causes throughout Stalybridge and Hyde have already benefitted from funds raised by People’s Postcode Lottery players and this funding is being put to good use. I’d encourage as many of our fantastic community organisations as possible to join this workshop and find out more about the funding available to them.”

Head of charities at People’s Postcode Lottery, Laura Chow, added: “The money raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery is making a huge difference in communities across the country.

“We want to do all we can to help local charities and good causes successfully apply – particularly at a time when many are losing out on essential funds. Our free virtual workshop is a useful opportunity for smaller, local charities and groups to find out about the funding available, get pointers on applying and ask us any questions.”
