Last chance to join Butterfly Memory Release

It's the last week before Ashton's Willow Wood Hospice's Butterfly Memory Release, and the final opportunity to dedicate a butterfly in memory of a loved one.

This much-loved remembrance event will of course be very different this year due to the pandemic.

Anthony Lord, head of income generation at the hospice, said: “Unfortunately, due to the government social distancing regulations we are unable to invite people to take part in the release and set their butterflies free themselves.

“However, our chaplain will still be blessing the butterflies before they are released by Willow Wood staff.

“The butterflies will not be in individual boxes and so they will all take to the air together. This will be filmed and available to view on our website so it can be watched at leisure, and we will send everyone taking part a memento certificate to keep and treasure.”

To be part of this special day visit www.willowwood.info and make your dedication online.

The release is at noon on Saturday, July 11 and online dedications can be made right up until 11.30am.
