Labour councillor grateful to Mossley folk after retaining seat

Mossley's Jack Homer said he was 'absolutely over the moon' after his re-election to Tameside Council.

The Labour councillor said: “I’m so grateful that the people of Mossley have faith in me to continue the job that I have enjoyed doing for them.

“I hope to continue to make them proud and do everything I can for them over the next four years.

“People want someone who is visible and who will look into the issues they raise and we try to do that - we communicate as much as we can and we will continue doing the same.

“We are always out speaking to people and have always had a public profile and we will keep doing that as much as we can.”

Cllr Homer polled more votes than his two opposition numbers combined.

The Conservatives were second with 959 votes and the Greens third with 471.

However, as mirrored across the north and the nation, the Conservative vote increased on recent years.

In last year’s election the Tories had been pushed into a lowly fourth spot, behind the Greens and Independent, but they swung back radically this time to take a respectable 30.8 per cent share of the vote.
