Jeweller's pedal power for local charity

IN THE SADDLE: Spencer Grady.

Well-known Ashton jeweller Spencer Grady is leaving his workshop this week for a Glossop-based charity.

The owner of Grade A Jewellery in the town is taking on a bicycle challenge to raise funds for Reuben’s Retreat.

His coast-to-coast ride will take him from Whitehaven to Sunderland – that’s 131 miles.

Spencer aims to complete the ride between July 9 and July 11.

Spencer said: “I’ve done it before, but I was younger and fitter and it was very tough.

“So, taking this challenge I thought why not raise money for charity and I’d appreciate any support if people can make a donation.”

Reuben’s Retreat, based in Glossop, is a home-from-home for families bereaved of a child and for children with life-limiting or threatening conditions and their parents and siblings.
