A woman who sustained an "extremely painful" ankle injury whilst walking along the canal in Mossley was helped by a mountain rescue crew member who happened to be passing by.
The Oldham Mountain Rescue Team member was out walking their dog on Sunday morning (28 February) when they came across the woman, who had just slipped in mud.
OMRT deployed a vehicle and one of their doctors, who assisted paramedics from North West Ambulance Service in splinting the injury and helped stretcher the woman to an ambulance which took her to hospital.
A spokesperson for OMRT added: "Well done to the several passers-by who helped stabilise and reassure her until help arrived.
"Three team members were involved for 45 minutes.
"As a rescue service we are happy to assist anyone in distress. We don’t judge our casualties and respectfully ask our followers to act in a similar manner. Let’s keep it positive folks!"
