Hyde school pupils have a 'hoppy Easter'

Children at Hyde's Bradley Green Primary Academy really did have a 'hoppy Easter'.

Not only did every single child receive an Easter egg - but they raised an amazing £3,700 for Willow Wood Hospice by participating in a bunny hop.

The individual eggs, ensuring no child went without this Easter, was down to the endeavours of school site manager Sean Daly, who generously took on the role of the Easter bunny and personally sourced and gave every child an Easter egg.

After such a disruptive and strange year for everyone - not least the youngsters - he was able to return a little piece of normality back into their lives.

Thanks also go to Morrisons in Hyde, where staff were so impressed with Sean’s efforts that they hand delivered an egg just for him at school.

Posting on their community champion Facebook page, the store team stated: “Today we surprised this lovely gentleman Mr Sean Daly who is the caretaker at Bradley Green Primary Academy.

“Yesterday one of our colleagues Stephanie Cheetham served Sean with 200 Easter eggs which he had bought himself to make sure every child in the school received an egg. How wonderful is that!

“Steph came to me and asked if we could do something for Sean so today off we went to make sure that Sean also received an egg.

“It was a pleasure to meet Sean and see the smile on his face when we presented him with the egg.

“It’s people like him who make this world a better place to be. Thank you.”

Then last Thursday all of the children and staff in school took part in the Willow Wood bunny hop and raised approximately £3,700 – more sponsor money is still coming in so the final amount won’t be known until after the school holidays.

Children wore their bunny ears, ran, hopped and took part in obstacle races and enjoyed a non uniform day and a special Easter lunch.
