Home celebrates 10th anniversary

Home Estate Agents is celebrating its 10th birthday this week with record-breaking sales and big plans for the future - including a move of its own.

The Tameside-based estate agent has enjoyed great sales in the year despite the lockdown. But once the lockdown was lifted, enabling estate agents to return to business, the sale of properties has literally ‘exploded’.

Owner and founder of Home Estate Agents John Grantham says he has never known a time like the present, with some houses selling literally within a couple of days.

Looking back he reflects that it is hard to believe that ten years ago Home Estate Agents began life in a box bedroom in Dukinfield with his wife and no less than five young children thrown into the mix.

Starting from scratch in an extremely difficult market back in 2010 following the banking crash just a few years previously was, to say the least, ‘extremely daunting’ adds John.

“But a lot of hard work and determination paid off and pretty quickly people were seeking us out, based on recommendations and word of mouth and we found ourselves needing office space and some staff.

“The years have flown by and each year we reflect on how the business has grown,” adds John. “How lucky we are to have such an amazing staff and what a privilege it is to have our clients’ trust, who then go on to share their positive experiences from using Home Estate Agents.

“It is our clients’ word of mouth recommendations that are the most valuable,” he states.

John, now a father of seven, says he chose the name ‘Home’ because it had a friendly rather than corporate feel.

“When Home opened up in 2010, the economy had taken a hit and everyone said we were mad to start an estate agents,” he says.

“However, Home Estate Agents has consistently sold more properties year on year, always achieving great prices for our clients using the best technology for showing off their homes and in order to cope with the demand expanding staffing levels and office space.”

This ‘birthday’ year is a prime example, despite being punctuated by the pandemic.

John reveals that in the first quarter of the year, Home enjoyed a record-breaking three months with 125 sales agreed.

This was promptly followed by a slightly surprising 121 sales agreed in the last six weeks of the second quarter, despite having to close the offices and hold no viewings for almost eight weeks during lockdown.

But once estate agents could get back to business, the response has been phenomenal.

“After the uncertainty that lockdown brought when we opened our doors and the viewings resumed, the market exploded and in the 90 days following lockdown we agreed more than 200 sales and the figures are still climbing,” said John.

Now with an ever expanding team, Home are on the move to a new head office on Huddersfield Road in Stalybridge.

“If the last decade has taught us anything it’s that client satisfaction is key,” says John.

“Many of our clients are repeat customers or have come to us via recommendations.

“We have listened to our clients and built on their feedback.”

He adds: “If 2020 has taught us anything it’s that time is incredibly precious and that’s why in our new head office you will find an in-house conveyancing service and a financial solutions company.”

If you’re looking to move in 2020 look no further than Tameside’s top selling agent who would love to achieve a great price for your home with an exceptional marketing package - plus why not take advantage of Home’s new in-house services?
