Hero who administered life saving first aid following stabbing honoured

A local hero has been honoured by his MP.

Connor McMillan rushed to the aid of a man who had been stabbed close to Crown Point North Retail Park on 7 July 2020.

He works security at the centre but went above and beyond his duty, providing lifesaving first aid whilst emergency services raced to the scene. He kept the man alive long enough for paramedics and the Tactical Aid Unit to arrive and take over.

He was presented with his Denton and Reddish Citizen’s Award by his MP Andrew Gwynne, and local councillors Denise Ward and Alison Gwynne at the scene of his heroics.

In a post on his Facebook page Andrew Gwynne MP said that he was made aware of the heroics after Connor’s parents got in touch to recommend him for the award.

Speaking to the Reporter he said: “It was a real pleasure to present my Denton and Reddish Citizen's Award to Connor McMillan today.

“Connor's swift actions under pressure should be commended. His family are rightly very proud of him and his award is well-deserved.”

Following Connor’s life saving actions a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of serious assault and was taken into police custody for questioning.
