Helping out at Milton St John's

Milton St John's CE Primary School on Mill Lane in Mossley made the month of December special for its students.

Festive Fridays gave children and staff the chance to dress up in Christmas accessories and take part in themed craft afternoons.

The Vicar of Mossley Father David Warner also led the students in a socially distanced Christingle.

Children made the symbolic Christingle candles and performed carols.

Each class had the chance to see a pantomime performed by Richard Fletcher from the Oldham Coliseum Theatre.

For the past 11 years, Richard’s been playing the pantomime comic in Christmas performances at the theatre, delighting audiences of all ages.

Unable to travel to the physical theatre, the school also screened Cinderella, an online pantomime.

Milton St John’s started its own food bank at the beginning of the last half-term, working alongside Mossley Food Bank in Mossley Youthbase, The Rowans.

They regularly donate bags of food, purchased through cash donations, allowing them to support the food bank and larger community.

Learning Mentor at the school Michelle Phillips said: “Thanks to the generosity of parents and staff we can support families through these tough times.”
