Roads are blocked around Daisy Nook after Storm Ciara caused heavy rainfall and flooding today [Sunday 9 February].
Our photographer Nigel Wood took these photos at 11:30am this morning showing Broadoak Road blocked by water.
The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for wind saying people should expect:
- Flying debris could lead to Injuries or danger to life
- Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs expected
- Longer journey times and cancellations, as road, rail, air and ferry services affected
- Some roads and bridges closed
- Power cuts with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
- Injuries and danger to life from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
There is also a yellow weather warning in place for rain stating:
- Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
- Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life
- Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible
- Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- Possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses
- Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads
