Heavy flooding at Daisy Nook

Roads are blocked around Daisy Nook after Storm Ciara caused heavy rainfall and flooding today [Sunday 9 February].

Our photographer Nigel Wood took these photos at 11:30am this morning showing Broadoak Road blocked by water.

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for wind saying people should expect: 

  • Flying debris could lead to Injuries or danger to life
  • Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs expected
  • Longer journey times and cancellations, as road, rail, air and ferry services affected
  • Some roads and bridges closed
  • Power cuts with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
  • Injuries and danger to life from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties

There is also a yellow weather warning in place for rain stating: 

  • Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
  • Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life
  • Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible
  • Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • Possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses
  • Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads

A car has also been crushed by a falling tree on Lanes Road in Dukinfield
