Have your say on the future of Dane Bank's green space

The first of two public consultations on the future of Dane Bank’s green space was held on Sunday.

Local residents were given the opportunity to find out more about a new partnership which aims to protect and improve the local green space on land between Windsor Road and Dane Bank Primary School.

The Dane Bank Green Space group recently underwent a successful battle to save the space from a 180-house development from Wain Homes.

Now, ambitious plans have been drawn up for future use of the space after input and ideas from the local community, which went on display on Sunday.

Katherine McLoughlin of the Dane Bank Green Space group said: “The consultation went really well. All the comments were positive and everyone seemed to like the concept.

“The concept is perfect. It’s a place designed by the community for the community, a place that will reach out and be enjoyed by all demographics regardless of age and ability.

“Myself and the team are passionate about this project because we all believe it’s what this area needs. It supports everybody, including our most vulnerable.”

The next consultation is on Wednesday, October 23. It will start with a 30 minute presentation on the next steps for the site, followed by a feedback workshop where residents can ask questions, make suggestions and voice their opinion on the concept. It’s at Denton West End Community Centre from 7pm-9pm.
