Hattersley art club celebrate 20th anniversary

Twenty years ago, a group of Hattersley students formed an art club after the art class they had been attending was discontinued.

None of them could have envisioned that two decades later, the All Seasons Art Club would not only still be thriving but would also be celebrating its 20th anniversary, with 33 members and a waiting list.

On Tuesday, June 25, the group hosted a special exhibition to mark 20 years, showcasing more than 200 pieces of artwork created by its talented members themselves.

Steven Bodgers, chairman of the club, described the turnout as "absolutely amazing" and "a great success". He said that almost 200 people turned up on the day, with a "constant flow of visitors" admiring the artists' creativity.

He added that during Covid-19, All Seasons' membership had declined to just 12 people and the future was looking "very bleak" due to organisers being unable to cover expenses. However, a Lottery grant was successful and a membership drive has now seen the club grow to its current status of oversubscription.

"We are looking forward now to our next 20 years celebrating local artists," Steven commented.
