Gwynne re-selected as candidate in Denton and Reddish

Andrew Gwynne.

Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, has been unanimously re-selected to stand as a candidate at the next General Election.

For the last few weeks, wards making up Denton and Reddish Labour, as well as union branches, affiliated socialist societies and the Co-operative party, have been holding votes to decide whether to select Gwynne for future General Elections, or whether to hold an open selection.

Gwynne confirmed on Monday that he had been unanimously reselected, and when the time comes, will stand as candidate for Denton and Reddish in what will be his sixth General Election.

Commenting on his reselection, he said: "I’m delighted to have been reselected to stand as a candidate at the next General Election.

"It is a real honour to represent my home, and there is still so much more that I want to do for Denton and Reddish.

"I would like to thank members in the seven wards making up Denton and Reddish Labour, as well as socialist societies, the Co-operative party and union branches for putting their trust in me again.

"I’m looking forward to taking the fight to the Tories at the next election and doing everything to secure a Labour Government that makes a real difference to people’s lives.”
