Group holds blooming marvellous open day in Hyde

Visitors had a blooming marvellous time when they dropped into a special open day in Hyde.

Greenscape, which provides a day care service for adults with a mild to moderate learning disability, or long term mental health problem, held the open day at their Bloom allotments in Hyde.

The group welcomed the Civic Mayor Cllr Janet Cooper, her Consort Dennis Fitzpatrick and local councillors Joyce Bowerman, Jacqueline Owen and Phillip Fitzpatrick.

There were refreshments, music, crafts, produce and stalls.

Jojo Parry from Bloom said: “Bloom was a hive of activity, glorious sunshine and friends old and new, enjoying the fabulous entertainment by singer Linda Lawrence and guest appearance for ‘Sweet Caroline’ a favourite with the participants doing their morning routine!

“We had refreshments, hotdogs, amazing cakes, prosecco, craft, produce and fun stalls to get everyone involved.

“On the children’s allotment they took part in free nature-based craft activities and helped to build a scarecrow.

“There was a wonderful atmosphere and lots of dancing, including all the councillors and Mayor.

“Paul, one of our longest participants, went on stage and volunteered to show the Mayor around.

“Thank you to our wonderful volunteers, staff, participants, donators and attendees. Together, we created a truly special day full of sunshine and community spirit.”

Jojo commented: “If you are a carer or know someone with a mild to moderate learning disability, or long term mental health condition and would like to join us you can contact us to try a free taster session.”
