First Godley Green Garden Village public sessions online

The first online public engagement sessions to gain feedback for plans to create a Garden Village in Godley are to take place today (Thursday).

An initial six-week consultation period is underway for the scheme, which would involve building up to 2,350 homes of all types and is one of the largest and most ambitious regeneration programmes in the North West.

Residents are being asked for their views so they can help to shape the proposals.

Because of Covid restrictions the consultation is starting with virtual engagement events, followed by open meetings when conditions allow.

The first sessions take place today between 2pm to 3.30pm and then 6pm to 7.30pm.

A dedicated website about the plans has been created and it is advised to book to take part in the sessions via the website which can be found at www.godleygreen.co.uk

The initial consultation closes on Friday, March 26. It will feature the concept masterplan for the site including proposals for investment in high-quality homes, jobs, green space, services and facilities that will serve the area for decades.

Since securing £10million in grant funding from Homes England, Tameside Council has moved ahead with its plans for the creation of the Garden Village.

The scheme is seen as being able to supply as much as a quarter of the borough’s housing requirements over the next 10 to 15 years.
