Festive fun in Mossley

The sights and sounds of Christmas descended on Mossley at the weekend.

The town celebrated the start of the festive season with an alternative Christmas lights switch-on and lots of virtual entertainment.

The Mossley Christmas Cracker saw residents taking part in their own Christmas lights switch-on from the comfort of their own homes, followed by singing on the doorstep.

Father Christmas and his elves even made an early visit to town.

Mossley Town Council funded the festive fun and frolics ‘to pull the Mossley community back together in this devastating year to celebrate Christmas 2020.’

They said: “Because Christmas community light-ups are impossible, on social distancing safety grounds, we asked everyone to light up their windows and stand on their own doorstep joining in with the community singing of ‘Jingle Bells’ at 6pm on Saturday.

“This was followed by a special online concert featuring Jon Courtenay (winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2020), the Kyla Brox Band and many more exciting Mossley performers.”

The community certainly pulled together with families lighting up their town and enjoying plenty of Christmas cheer.
