Family fun day in Ashton supports mental health charity

There was fun for all of the family in Ashton as the community came together to help raise vital funds for a local charity.

The charity fun day at the King George V Playing Fields on Sunday afternoon (5 September) was in aid of The Anthony Seddon Fund.

Based in Ashton, the charity supports mental wellbeing in Tameside.

The event was organised entirely by Danielle Taylor and the Ashton Young Labour Group - from picking the stalls they wanted to arranging the food.

Among the activities on offer were a bouncy castle with slides, hook-a-duck, a tombola, a raffle, face painting, as well as lots of refreshments and more.

They managed to raise a brilliant £2,000.

The charity also had a pop-up information stall at the event where many people came along to seek advice.

Ashton Hurst councillor Dolores Lewis said: "What a fantastic community event in aid of The Anthony Seddon Fund. The weather was glorious and lots of fun was had by all. A massive thank you to all the volunteers for bringing the local community together."
