Fair in Gee Cross raises hundreds for charity

Hundreds turned out for a charity fair in Gee Cross at the weekend.

The star attraction was a raffle for young Ella Cooper and her family.

Ella suffers from Weidemann-Steiner Syndrome a developmental disorder with only around 1,000 people in the world currently diagnosed.

The syndrome means she struggles to put on weight and is behind in her development.

From their stall in the Gee X Community Centre they held their raffle which included plenty of exciting prizes.

They’ve also recieved a glove from Ricky Hatton and a signed shirt from Manchester City.

The day managed to raise £350 for the diseases charity, which has just received a UK charity number, meaning that money raised here can now be used to support UK based children for the first time.

Ella’s mum, Kay said that they all really enjoyed the day: “It was a fabulous day. It was really busy, especially in the morning, people were queueing out of the door.

“Ella really enjoyed the day. Her friend from Oldham with the same condition came down.

“We raised £350 with the raffle and all of the money is going to the foundation.

“People in other regions of the country are doing their own fundraisers.”

Kay would like to thank everyone that came along and bought a ticket for the raffle and gave special thanks to anyone that donated a prize to them.

The charity’s fundraiser is still online and accepting donations. You can do so by heading here.
