An elderly woman in her 80s sustained a broken leg after being involved in a collision with a cyclist on a busy road in Droylsden.

It happened at around 12.15pm last Thursday afternoon (4 August) on Manchester Road.

Initial enquiries suggest that the cyclist was travelling along the road in the direction of Ashton, when the woman crossed the road at a pedestrian crossing and the collision occurred. The cyclist then left the scene.

Greater Manchester Police are investigating and appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Police Sergeant Andrew Page, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This incident left an elderly woman in her 80s with a broken leg and we are currently investigating to establish the cause of the collision.

"We need the cyclist to get in touch with us to help us with our enquiries, so please, if you were the cyclist involved, please get in touch with us as soon as possible."

Anyone who witnessed this incident, or anyone who may have dash cam or helmet footage, is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
