Elderly Denton woman's amazing fundraising

Ninety-one-year-old Jessie Brown held a summer garden party at her home in Denton to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

In her garden on Delamere Road, Jessie ran a raffle and lucky dip, served cream tea and hosted a game of bingo. She organises the event every year and has raised over £5,000 in the last five years.

The Alzheimer’s Society has special significance for Jessie as she lost her husband to the disease.

Community Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society in Greater Manchester, Nicki Nalton, added: “Following a difficult year for people with dementia, we are in awe of supporters like Jessie whose brilliant fundraising efforts enable us to reach more people through our vital support services, like the Dementia Connect support line.

“Our services have been used five and half million times since the first lockdown began in March last year and have been a lifeline to thousands, but there are so many more who urgently need our help.”
