Eight arrested in busy day for Tameside police

Eight wanted people - including a 15-year-old boy - were arrested across Tameside for a variety of offences in a busy day for the borough's police officers.

The Tameside District Tasking Team arrested a number of males yesterday (Thursday) who were wanted for a number of offences - from criminal damage and robbery to burglary and assault. 

The arrests were all over the borough - in Hyde, Dukinfield, Ashton, Denton and Audenshaw, as well as in Reddish. 

A 15-year-old male, who hasn't been named, was arrested at an address in Ashton on suspicion of a sexual offence, which occurred in November 2019. He's in police custody awaiting interview. 

A 16-year-old, who hasn't been named, was arrested at a house on Pleasant Terrace in Dukinfield on suspicion of robbery - which happened in the Radcliffe area of Lancashire back in April. He remains in police custody to be interviewed. 

A 17-year-old, who hasn't been named, was arrested at a property on Lumb Road in Hyde, also on suspicion of robbery - which occurred in the Hyde area on Monday evening (June 1). He remains in police custody awaiting to be interviewed. 

A 48-year-old man, who hasn't been named, has been arrested on The Close in Denton on suspicion of criminal damage. He was interviewed and released under investigation whilst police carry out further enquiries. 

Jason Featherstone, of Wilton Street in Reddish, was arrested at his home and later charged with burglary offences (other than a dwelling) and the theft of a vehicle. The 50-year-old has been bailed to appear at Stockport Magistrates' Court on 6 July. 

Luke Nuttall, of Edward Street in Audenshaw, was arrested at his home address and later charged with burglary (other than a dwelling) which happened in September last year. The 27-year-old was remanded in police custody to appear at Stockport Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon.

A 51-year-old man, who hasn't been named, has been released without further action following a full investigation, after being arrested on suspicion of assault at a house on Rydal Avenue in Hyde. 

Kevin Sumner, of no fixed abode, was arrested at an address on Yew Tree Lane in Dukinfield after being wanted on recall to prison. The 54-year-old was then transported to HMP Forrest Bank.
