Dukinfield primary pupils to get chance to see their friends again

Staff and pupils at St John’s CE Primary School in Dukinfield will be able to meet up next week before the end of the summer term.

Currently the school, on Westmorland Avenue, is only open to the children of key workers, Reception and Years 1 and 6.

But for a few days next week the school is offering an opportunity for pupils in other years to go back to class.

The children that are currently in school will finish on Wednesday, July 22.  St John’s will then offer an opportunity for those children who haven’t been able to go to school to attend with their year groups.

All children in Year 2 can go back to their class for two days on Thursday, July 23 and Friday, July 24. All children in Year 5 can attend for the same two days.

Children in Year 3 can go back to their class for one day on Thursday, July 23; while children in Year 4 can go back to their class for one day on Friday, July 24.

Children who have already been in school are also included in the invitation as this will help with their preparation for the autumn term.

Head teacher Mrs Hewitt-Lee said: “I understand that these are not huge amounts of time we are offering, but I hope that it gives the children a chance to get closure on the last year (and see some of their friends!).”
