Dukinfield family's winter wonderland to raise funds for hospital baby unit

A Dukinfield couple have turned their home into a winter wonderland to entertain local children and raise funds for a good cause.

Stephen and Bernadine Horrocks spent three weeks decorating their Dukinfield home on Dewsnap Lane.

They have been creating the festive display for the last four years to bring some joy to locals both young and young at heart and raise money each year by asking for donations.

This year they have decided to collect donations for the Tameside Hospital Baby Unit.

With the splendid seasonal scene complete the fundraisers have flicked the switch to create an incredible winter wonderland scene around their home.

It is complete with Santas, reindeer, snowmen and even a polar bear, plus of course plenty of lights and festive messages.

Already hundreds of people have stopped by the house to enjoy and admire the Horrocks’  newest edition to their Christmas scene - a snow machine.

With a donation target of £500, they have already raised more than £300 to date.

Bernadine said: “We’re loving that people are enjoying it. We had help from neighbours to set it up, so everybody is contributing toward it. Even the smallest amount can make a massive difference.”

To donate, people can drop money into the collection box outside their house, or go online and search for https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/dewsnaplanefundraiser2020?

Monies raised will be used to buy equipment for the unit.
