Droylsden Library reopens to the public in its new home

Droylsden Library has re-opened at its new home at Guardsman Tony Downes House.

The decision to move the library came after a month-long consultation in June of this year.

It has moved from the adjacent building on Manchester Road, which closed on 28 August and is set to be demolished in the coming weeks.

The new improved library opened for the first time at 9am on Thursday morning (9 September).

It's on ground-floor level and offers free Wi-Fi, up-to-date PCs and printers, a community room, a children’s area and a space for study or work.

There is also a designated area for teenagers, a wide selection of large-print and audio books and forward facing displays to make finding books easier.

An official opening of the library is planned for next week.

The opening hours are 9am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 3pm on Saturday. Staffed hours are 9am to 1pm on Mondays and Thursdays, 1pm to 5pm on Fridays and 10am to 3pm on Saturdays.
