Denton town twinning to reach milestone

This September, Denton will be celebrating 30 years of town twinning.

Over the last three decades, town twinning has impacted dozens of Denton businesses, scores of Denton bands, hundreds of Denton residents and thousands of Denton schoolchildren.

Denton has two twin towns: Montigny-le-Bretonneux near Paris, France, and Kierspe near Cologne, Germany.

Denton MP Andrew Gwynne said he is a proud president of Denton Town Twinning Association.

He added: "I think it’s great that volunteers have maintained and strengthened links with these fabulous two towns over three decades now. Well done. Can’t wait to see friends from both Montigny and Kierspe in Denton in September."

Denton North East councillor Allison Gwynne also commented: "I think it's great that Denton has strong international links with two other towns, Montigny and Kierspe (who are also twinned together). Well done on three decades of twinning."

The Town Twinning Association is a voluntary organisation which facilitates exchange visits to both twin towns for residents, clubs and schools.
