Denton man jailed for robbery and assaulting emergency worker

A man from Denton has been handed a 21-month prison sentence for robbery and assaulting an emergency service worker.

It happened in April this year and, following a five-month investigation involving a violent shoplifter, the neighbourhood policing team in Hyde arrested a man.

Peter Cargill pleaded guilty to assault with intent to commit robbery, theft from another person, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and assault by beating of an emergency worker.

The 44-year-old was charged and sentenced to 21 months in prison, Greater Manchester Police's Tameside South and West team has said.
