Denton girl gets Citizen's Award from MP

Nine-year-old Paige Thomas has earned more than a brownie badge for her fundraising efforts.

On Saturday (October 9), MP Andrew Gwynne awarded Paige a Citizen’s Award and congratulated her on raising over £400 for St John’s Ambulance.

The award ceremony took place at St George’s Church in Dane Bank and is home to Paige’s local brownie group, the 5th Debdale St George’s Brownies.

She began making and selling resin keyrings in the school holidays to earn her brownie charity badge. You can read the full story here https://www.questmedianetwork.co.uk/news/tameside-reporter/denton-girl-raises-hundreds-for-st-john-ambulance/

Gwynne MP started his Citizen’s Awards during the first lockdown last year and since then has awarded over 75 certificates to residents.

He added: “Paige is a remarkable girl and is so deserving of this certificate.

“She has raised an incredible amount of money, and it is thanks to people like Paige that St John's Ambulance are able to carry out their vital work. She is truly inspirational. Well done Paige!"
