Dave Sweetmore column: Legends top the back to '80s bill

Martin Kemp will be making a live appearance.

The Tameside Radio presenter has details about a hugely popular 'Back to the 80s' festival coming to a legendary Greater Manchester venue very soon - which will feature a special appearance from a familiar face...

Whatever the occasion, there is nowhere quite like the legendary Bowlers Exhibition Centre, Trafford Park, for indoor events and festivals.

Over the years the iconic venue has become known worldwide for many legendary dance and Manchester Adored days and nights.

On Sunday, March 27, they will be bringing back the hugely popular ‘Back To The 80s’ festival.

The event will feature some of the world’s leading tributes to Duran Duran, Culture Club, Human League, Depeche Mode, Simple Minds and Erasure, in a fully decorated and themed arena.

The highlight of the day though will no doubt be the guest appearances of legendary Spandau Ballet bass player Martin Kemp.

As a member of one of the biggest bands of the decade, and now one of the country’s favourite TV and film actors, it’s his 80s’ DJ sets which recently have become notorious for filling large venues around Europe.

His day at Bowlers Back To The 80s festival will no doubt be a very special occasion for both him and Greater Manchester’s 80s’ music fans.

The 80s are a decade which were a colourful, full of life, energetic time, and one which everybody loves, and this day will no doubt celebrate this from start to finish in only a way the events team at Bowlers can.

I’ll be hosting the whole day, and whatever part of the 80s’ music world you love, it’s guaranteed it will be covered, and you’ll be dancing to plenty of it.

The day will also have a large food court, and themed bars including gin, prosecco and cocktail bars, and it’s guaranteed the production team behind the event will no doubt be producing another memorable, historic day.

It will definitely be a packed, fun event, and 80s’ dress on the day is advised.

Tickets for these festivals always sell quickly, so it’s advised to buy soon. Tickets for the Back To The 80s’ event at Bowlers on Sunday, March 27, are on sale now on skiddle, and the event runs from 2pm until 10pm.
