Dave Sweetmore column: Indoor music festival coming to Tameside

The Tameside Radio presenter tells us about an exciting music festival coming to Stalybridge soon which he'll be hosting and DJing at.

As outdoor festivals come to an end, and indoor gigs and tours pick up pace over winter, respected promoter Anton Pell has decided to combine both.

He is going to hold an indoor festival in December, and instead of one of his usual locations somewhere in the city centre of Manchester, he’s bringing ‘Mancunia Festival 2021’ to Tameside and holding it at Stalybridge’s Zeros music venue.

With his Mancunia brand, which he has hosted many iconic gigs with for a long time, and also is one part of Manchester’s online TV show MMTV, he’ll be bringing some of the best new and unsigned bands to a mammoth 14 hour day of live music on Saturday, December 4.

Headlining are Mancunian heroes Alias Kid, still riding high on the music scene with their latest single ‘Through The Night’, and Manchester music fans’ favourites The Pagans SOH.

The rest of the line-up includes: Shade, The Battery Farm, Section 60, The Otherness, Ventrelles, Kisskie, New Revolution, Damien Luke, with more to be announced.

I will be hosting and DJing on the day and Manchester legend MC Tunes, who himself has been responsible for some of our greatest anthems, is still as busy as ever with his infamous DJ sets.

Starting at 1pm and finishing at 3am, the faultless line-up will not only be a brilliant day of live music, but will also no doubt introduce some of the music fans who come along to bands they perhaps haven’t seen, or even heard, before.

For me that’s one of the best things about days like this, the fact you may discover your new favourite band.

Tickets for Mancunia Festival 2021 at Zeros in Stalybridge are available now from www.mancuniapresents.sumup.link, and all the information is also on the event page and Zeros Bar social media.

The event is kindly sponsored by Proud 2B Safe (www.p2bs.org).

It’s guaranteed to be a great day and night and I’d highly recommend it to any fans of new and local live music.
