Date set for Ashton conservative club's grand reopening

Waterloo and Taunton Conservative Club in Ashton has announced when it will reopen for the first time since lockdown.

In a Facebook post, the club on Oldham Road has confirmed it will officially open its doors again on Monday 6 July at 3pm.

But there will be a number of noticeable differences, of course, to adhere to the government's Covid-19 secure guidelines.

For the time being, the following changes will be in place:

  • Entry to the club will be via the bowlers gate (rear entrance)
  • It will be table service only inside the club house, with no standing at the bar
  • Outside (smoking shelter and crown green) there will be a bar service, available at the outside bar clap, with seating and standing room

The club committee added: "Everyone MUST adhere to social distancing and observe the strict one-metre plus ruling. Your Committee Team, Stewardess, Bar Team, Club Cleaner, are working extremely hard to implement all the guidelines and it may take some time to get it right.

"Unfortunately we are not allowed live entertainment at present and are still awaiting further details on inside gaming (snooker, darts, bingo, Lotto, etc). We will provide further updates as we know more. We look forward to welcoming you back... baby steps."
