Our regular columnist, student Daisy Dewsnap, talks about the benefits of listening to podcasts.
Podcasts are quite a popular form of audio content which are becoming more and more well known across various different platforms.
There are many benefits to listening to them so I wanted to put together an article about why you should make them a part of your daily routine.
The first, and one of the most significant reasons, is that it encourages us to cut down on screen time!
Due to podcasts being audio content, we are able to listen to them and take knowledge from them without staring at a screen for long periods of time. It is like watching a YouTube video or a Netflix show, but without the strain on your eyes from the screen.
Another reason for why you should listen to podcasts more often is that they help us to multi-task! You can listen on the go, with whatever you are doing, whether you’re baking a cake, sat on the bus, typing out an essay, washing the dishes, absolutely anything can be accompanied by a podcast and it will make your workload feel a lot lighter too.
A third benefit is that they’re free. You don’t have to spend any money whatsoever on them, you can just tune in on Spotify or Apple Music or whichever platform you choose and consume the content they provide without paying a penny!
Why not make the most of our access to this content when it’s so within our reach?
As well as being great entertainment, lots of them are also educational!
So, you can learn something from them and it boosts your productivity while partaking in tedious, mindless chores. They’re perfect for teaching you just about anything!
I hope this article helped to persuade you just a little to start listening to them!
There are so many different niches and topics covered and you will be able to find one for almost any subject you like; whether you want to keep up to date with the news, learn a new skill, have a laugh, get some advice, or you just want a pep talk! There will be a podcast out there for you.
