Cineworld has announced the date of when its cinema in Ashton-under-Lyne will reopen to the public.
The UK's biggest cinema operator has confirmed that the cinema at Ashton Leisure Park will open its doors again - for the first time in seven months - on Wednesday 19 May.
Like all of the firm's cinemas in the UK and Ireland, it has been closed since 9 October last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A spokesperson for Cineworld said: "At Cineworld, our main priority remains the safety of our customers and employees. We of course follow all instructions and regulations of the local authorities and current government guidelines and regulations."
There will be coronavirus measures in place to help keep staff and customers safe, which are:
- Face coverings must be worn in the cinema (unless you are medically exempt) but can be removed when eating and drinking.
- Social distancing measures and hand sanitiser stations will be in place within the cinema
- Where social distancing can't be maintained, plastic screens will be in place at tills
- All employee and customer toilets will be stocked with anti-bacterial hand soap, and stringent handwashing guidelines will be in place for all employees
- Additional cleaning will be in place to clean and sanitise touch points in the cinema
Customers will be encouraged to book tickets in advance via the Cineworld website and app. Confirmation emails can be used as tickets and e-tickets are available on the app.
The booking system will allow people to sit next to their friends and family - depending on the capacity and layout of each screen - whilst ensuring a safe distance between separate groups of customers.
The start and end times of films will be staggered to reduce customers crossing paths with other customers going in or out of other screens, and discourage crowds in the foyer. There will be additional time for cleaning between films too.
