Christmas concerts in Tameside

Music lovers will have the chance to get in the festive spirit thanks to a series of Christmas concerts held across Tameside.

The three events will be hosted by Tameside Music Service (TMS) and will provide something for everyone, from rock bands to choirs and everything in between.

The series begins with Band Skills Winter Showcase, which will take place at 7pm on Wednesday 11 December at POP, Corporation Street, Hyde, and will feature performances from some of the best of Tameside’s up-and-coming young rock and pop artists.

TMS’s Big Christmas Concert will include performances from all of the service’s major instrumental ensembles, including the very first performance by Tameside Youth Orchestra. The Big Christmas Concert takes place at 6.30pm on Thursday 12 December at Hyde Town Hall.

The Christmas concert series draws to a close with Brass and Carols at St. Peter’s Church, Ashton, on Wednesday 18 December at 6pm. A brass band from TMS will be joined by children from local primary schools for a festive evening of traditional carols and songs.

Cllr Leanne Feeley, Tameside Council Executive Member for Lifelong Learning, said: “These concerts are a brilliant opportunity for our whole community to come together and celebrate Christmas. Tameside Music Service has held some fantastic events over the year where students get the opportunity to perform to audiences far and wide.”

Tickets for each concert cost £3, however a Festive Trio ticket can be purchased giving access to all three events for £7.50. Tickets can be bought online through Eventbrite or by contacting TMS directly.
