Charity celebrates official shop opening

The Anthony Seddon Charity Shop opened its doors in Ashton on Tuesday after weeks of hard work to transform the premises.

David Hulston and Christine Bell have been working hard over the past 10 weeks to get the shop on George Street ready for the big day.

From painting, adding new shelving, cleaning and renewing carpets it has all been worthwhile.

Shelley Wright and Ann Locke have also been adding their artistic talents by sorting out stock and stocking the shop with handmade goodies, gorgeous clothing and accessories.

A special ribbon-cutting ceremony was held - at a social distance - with Maria Bailey (President of Tameside Rotary) and Lorraine Whitehead (Community Support Friends of Waterloo) helping to officially open the shop.

Community Events Development Worker at the charity, Angie Wild, said: “The shop is absolutely stunning and all the hard work has definitely paid off.

“The shop will be open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays for the time being, but once lockdown has been lifted more days will be added.”

The Anthony Seddon Fund offers support for those with mental health issues in Tameside.

If you would like to be part of the charity and volunteer you can contact angiewild@tasfund.org.uk.

An alternative way of supporting the charity is to support Ashton couple Steven and Charlotte Jackson’s sponsored skydive, which they will be making on behalf of the charity on August 14.

They have set up a justgiving page which you can find at /www.justgiving.com/fundraising/c-j88
