Change of lifestyle sees Stalybridge mum shed two stone

A mum-of-two from Stalybridge has ditched the word 'diet' and enjoyed a summer of confidence with her children two stones lighter.

Katy Woolfenden said she no longer feels embarrassed about her weight and puts her weight-loss success down to her local Weight Watchers group.

The 35-year-old, of Millbrook, struggled with her weight from an early age and said it crept up to 18 stone after giving birth to her two children.

Despite initially celebrating success on an alternative weight-loss plan, she found the weight loss slow and became bored with the plan, which led to the weight going back on.

The trigger moment for Katy was the tightening of her clothes and when her friend suggested she joined Weight Watchers in January this year, she was keen to give it a go after seeing others celebrate success.

Katy was soon enjoying the plan and tools available.

"I love Weight Watchers for the app and the freedom of food you can eat," she explained. "The app shows you how to eat and point everything and there are definitely no restrictions.

"I can scan things whilst shopping and put back high-fat options. I cook from fresh for the whole family most evenings and we all enjoy the recipes, plus there are some really good ready meals that I keep in the fridge for emergencies or nights when I’m rushing with the children.

"I use the Weight Watchers restaurant app - it's amazing, so quick and easy. I love that the app activity tracker links with my Fitbit. I do three workouts a week and can’t wait to see how many Fit points it’s earned me. I now walk more and do regular workouts."

Katy was also keen to point out the support she's received from Claire Burrows - her Weight Watchers coach.

"She's amazing, she gives me great support in the workshop and makes it fun too. I love the tips and ideas that Claire offers and she definitely keeps me motivated. She is only on the other end of the phone if I need her."

Now 26.5 pounds lighter, Katy has dropped from a size 16 to a size 12 and is also benefitting from a shift in her mindset.

"I am still 12 pounds off my goal but I am loving the plan and I've become so much more active and I'm eating healthier foods," she said.

"Weight Watchers has completely changed my lifestyle. It's given me the confidence back to wear nice clothes and get back into exercise.

"It's also helped me with anxiety and brought me closer to my children. We exercise together at Zumba and go on lovely dog walks."

Coach Claire added: "Katy has adapted to the plan amazingly well. She's shown commitment and is leading a much healthier and happier lifestyle."
