Care assistants brave the shave

Care assistants at HC-One's Millbrook care home in Stalybridge have braved the shave to raise a fantastic £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Mary Buckley and Jordan Etchells joined chef Stephen Haigh for the fundraising challenge.

Brave the Shave is an initiative introduced by Macmillan Cancer Support to raise money in a courageous and bold way, raising more than £22.7m since 2015.

Stephen was keen to brave the shave for Macmillan, as the charity is very close to his heart after his great grandmother was looked after by Macmillan nurses.

While Jordan took part in the shave as an avid fundraiser, Mary made a last-minute decision to participate in the challenge after witnessing first-hand the difference that Macmillan nurses make to people's lives.

Guests at the summer fayre were delighted to show their support for the courageous trio, while enjoying a number of activities on offer, including face painting, a raffle and a performance from local entertainers Musical Delights.
