Boy's scooter stolen days after he buried his dad

A family is desperately appealing for help after a teenage boy whose dad died in a horrific crash in Hyde has had his electric scooter stolen, before he could even enjoy using it.

Jack Hilton, 13, from Denton, was promised the scooter by his dad Lee, who was rushed to hospital with multiple injuries after being involved in a collision on Matley Lane on 4 May but sadly passed away 10 days later.

However, just before they were due to collect it, the scooter - along with four bikes - was stolen from a unit on the Waterside Industrial Estate in Hadfield in the early hours of Tuesday 23 June.

It left young Jack, who had buried his dad just a few days earlier, understandably heartbroken.

Jack’s distraught mum Gem Kidd said: “He was looking forward to getting it and he had waited so long to get one. I need to get my son his scooter back. He is so upset and we need to try to cheer him up.

“I just feel so sad for him. Every day he keeps asking if we have found it. His cousin Stephen got a few family members to put some money together to make sure Jack got this scooter to make him happy because he really wanted one.

“His cousin told Jack he had got him the scooter and they would go and get it the next morning, so Jack went to bed very excited. Unfortunately that night, the scooter along with motorbikes were stolen from a unit in Hadfield.

“When I told Jack the following morning that he had no scooter, he was heartbroken. The poor lad had just buried his dad on 17 June and then some horrible person robbed his scooter.  Let’s just hope we can make him happy and get it back.”

It was a Nanrobot D4+ high speed electric scooter and cost around £500.

CCTV footage (pictured below) shows two tall men - one wearing a cap - approaching the unit at 00.40am on 23 June, before a white vehicle is seen driving away 14 minutes later.
