Boy, 11, seriously injured after hit-and-run crash

An 11-year-old boy was seriously injured after being hit by a car on the A57 Hyde Road. 

The incident happened just before 1.30pm on Sunday afternoon (26 June) outside Debdale Park. The busy road in Gorton, just outside Tameside, was cordoned off by police between Reddish Bridge and Laburnum Road. 

Police are now urgently appealing for information following the incident, after the driver failed to stop.

Officers established the vehicle had collided with the young boy, who was taken to hospital by paramedics with severe injuries.

Anyone with information or dash cam footage should contact police by calling 0161 856 4741, quoting 1657 of 26/06/22. Information can also be shared anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
