BoxingBees prepare for UK Fast City of Salford 10k

The UKFast City of Salford 10k is just around the corner (8th September) and in true ‘health & fitness’ style, The Running Bee Foundation partnered with Total Fitness Walkden to host a boxing work out in preparation for the big day.

Commonwealth Champion and The Running Bee Foundation Ambassador Stacey Copeland ran the session exclusively for Total Fitness members.

Participants spent an hour working up a sweat, learning boxing techniques and practicing their jabs with the European medal-winning boxer.

Boxers welcomed The Running Bee Foundation’s very own Mo the Bee who enjoyed her own sparring session, alongside the Foundation’s Chair of Trustees Carl Austin-Behan.

Richard Wilson, General Manager at Total Fitness Walkden comments; “It was fantastic to have one of the world’s best boxers putting our members through their paces and really putting our equipment to the test.

“The Running Bee Foundation, with its aim to improve the health and wellbeing of local residents and help tackle the challenge of childhood obesity, is something the Total Fitness team wholeheartedly support.”

Mark Siddall, Total Fitness member, ‘’the session was really interesting – it’s great to learn new boxing skills and change up the fitness routine!’’

Paula Slater, Total Fitness member, ‘’the boxing was really enjoyable – I wish Stacey could be here to do it every week, it was very motivational!”’

Jane Younge, Total Fitness member, ‘’I really enjoyed learning the boxing techniques – Stacey is really inspiring.’’

Stephen Owen, Foundation Operations Manager at The Running Bee Foundation commented, ‘’the #BoxingBees session was so much fun! The members were all really engaged and we had lots of positive feedback afterwards, despite being a little out of breath! It was a great way to celebrate the upcoming UKFast City of Salford 10k.’’

The popular route is a winner with locals and beyond – thousands of runners will take to the streets of MediaCityUK and surrounding areas to gain personal bests or raise money for their chosen charity as well as their local community.
