Ashton shopping centre nominated for award

Ladysmith Shopping Centre has received some fantastic news - it has been shortlisted for this year's prestigious Property Awards.

The shopping centre has been nominated in a brand-new category for 2020 – the Social Impact Award.

The centre in Ashton has proved itself to be at the heart of the community, after organising and delivering the town's first awards evening, The Amazing Ashton Awards (pictured) - an initiative highlighted by the judges.

The Retail Awards are the UK's leading and most prestigious annual awards dedicated to the full spectrum of the commercial property industry.

The Social Impact Award looks to celebrate the best social impact projects and initiatives of the past year and celebrate excellence in this emerging field.

Samantha Robinson, Assistant Centre Manager at Ladysmith, said: "We are extremely excited to be nominated for such a prestige award and to be recognised for our efforts in helping build and strengthen the community of Ashton Under Lyne.

“It is paramount to Ladysmith Shopping Centre that the people, charities, businesses and organisations of Ashton are at the heart of everything we do.”

Nominations for the Amazing Ashton Awards are set to open again in May this year to celebrate the town’s unsung heroes.

Three finalists are selected from each of the eight categories and invited to a glamorous awards evening at The Village Ashton around November time.

Samantha added: "Ashton is filled with amazing individuals that work hard to make the community a better place and we are proud to put together this awards night to honour those who truly deserve it.

"These awards are about celebrating the work people do in our local community to help the lives of their neighbours, friends, family and colleagues better and it’s really touching to see how many people are out there helping others.

"I’m sure everyone knows at least one person worthy of these awards and I would encourage you all to nominate when the time comes." 

Winners for the Property Awards will be announced on April 21.
